SIBFF Dog Training…
A Different Idea of What Dog Training Should Be
The founder of Staten Island BFF Dog Training began training dogs more than two decades ago.
After years of training, he stepped away from the industry for several years to pursue a different career path. But sometimes leaving something behind is what makes you realize how much it meant to you in the first place.
After several years away, he missed working with dogs, missed working with their owners, and ultimately found his way back to training dogs.
Before opening Staten Island BFF Dog Training, he spent time working for another training company. That experience was valuable, but it also helped shape a very clear idea of what he wanted BFF Dog Training to be—and, just as importantly, what he didn’t want it to become.
Dog training should have a destination.
The goal shouldn’t simply be to keep a client in training. It should be to get the dog and owner to a place where they can communicate better, understand one another better, and live together with greater confidence and harmony.
That philosophy became one of the reasons Staten Island BFF Dog Training was created.
Training the Dog—and Teaching the Owner
We believe successful dog training involves much more than changing a dog’s behavior.
The owner needs to understand what they’re doing, why they’re doing it, and how their own actions can influence what happens next.
That’s why education is such an important part of what we do.
We don’t want you to simply watch us get results with your dog. We want to teach you how to get those results yourself—and how to maintain them long after a training session ends.
Our Approach
SIBff uses a combination of training methods and tools based on the individual dog, the behavior we’re addressing, and the owner we’re working with. We use positive reinforcement whenever possible while also recognizing that effective training sometimes requires clear boundaries, accountability, and appropriate corrections.
There is no single method that is right for every dog.
Dogs are individuals. Owners are individuals. The training should reflect that.
What Success Looks Like to Us
Our goal isn’t perfection.
It’s progress that matters in real life.
It’s enjoying a walk instead of dreading one. It’s being able to get your dog’s attention when the world around them is more interesting than you are. It’s having a dog who understands what’s expected of them—and an owner who knows how to communicate those expectations clearly and fairly.
Most importantly, we want the relationship between you and your dog to be better because we were part of it.
BFF Dog Training was built around a simple standard: do what’s best for the dog, teach the owner as much as possible, set realistic expectations, and then work hard to exceed them.
Because eventually, we want you to not need us.
If you understand why things are happening and we teach you what to do and why you are doing it . You wont need us and that is our goal.
